WHAT IS THE LAW OF ATTRACTION?
The Law of Attraction has been suggested in literature, philosophy and religion throughout the ages. It is a law like gravity, in that it affects all things. Everything in your life, the good things and the so-called bad, has been attracted by this powerful law. Understand how and why your life unfolds as it does and learn to create the life you want!

Doreen Virtue, PhD is a bestselling author who works with the angelic and elemental realms. She is a frequent guest on numerous television and radio talk shows.
MICHAEL: Doreen, what do you think of Ernest Holmes' teachings (author of Science of Mind/Religious Science) and how do they fit in with your beliefs?
DOREEN: I love the teachings of Ernest Holmes, especially the Anniversary Edition of the Science of Mind book, which includes Holmes' writings about life-after-death. Religious Science had a huge impact upon life, beginning with my birth. Let me explain: my parents had been married seven years and were having difficulty conceiving a child. So they asked their Religious Science Church prayer committee to pray for them. I was conceived three weeks later! So is it any wonder that I'm grateful to Ernest Holmes and Religious Science?
In particular, I love Holmes' writing about spiritual mind treatments for health, prosperity, and peace-of-mind. I've also read a lot of Phineas Quimby's work. Quimby was the originator of New Thought thinking, and his teachings influenced Mary Baker Eddy (Christian Science), Ernest Holmes, the Fillmores (Unity) and Nona Brooks (Divine Science). Quimby studied Jesus's words about healing, and discovered their scientific basis.
MICHAEL: Do you think we create our personal reality with our thinking?
DOREEN: Absolutely yes. Although instead of the word, "create," I'd substitute the word, "attract." That's why when we're in love, on a holiday, or in a good mood, the whole world seems brighter. Our positive outlook attracts positive people and situations to us. The key is to be super-aware of your every thought and not allow for infestations of negativity. This is where the angels come in: if you ask them, they'll uplift moods and thinking.
MICHAEL: What is your definition of God?
DOREEN: God is love, wisdom, creativity, and light. God is everywhere, including within ourselves and every person and situation. God loves us, supports us, and sees only the good within us.
MICHAEL: Who are your favourite spiritual teachers or inspirational people- and who are your favourite esoteric authors or books?
DOREEN: There are so many! I was deeply influenced by Viktor Frankl's, "Man's Search for Meaning," which drives home the point that you ultimately choose happiness, no matter what the circumstances around you are. "A Course in Miracles," which I've read many times has really helped me to be positive. Norman Vincent Peale's book, "Positive Imaging" helped me a great deal, early in my career. I also love Florence Scovel Shinn, the author of "The Game of Life." Dolores Cannon is one of my favourite living author (she wrote, "Jesus and the Essenes" and "Keepers of the Garden"). I'd credit John Randolph Price for helping me most with manifestation and abundance, particularly his "Abundance Book."
MICHAEL. How will you be celebrating Christmas?
DOREEN: My favourite holidays are spent at home. I travel so much for work, that I truly appreciate being in my own home when I can. This Christmas, I'll be with my husband (Steven Farmer, author of "Power Animals" and "Sacred Ceremony"), my son Grant, my son Chase, and Grant's girlfriend, Donna. My parents will travel to our home to join us on December 29 to spend a few days for a second Christmas celebration with us.
Most of my family is New Age in their thinking, so we enjoy talking about spirituality together. We'll eat a vegan dinner, since most of us in the family don't eat meat or dairy products. The soy-based meat substitutes are delicious these days! Other than that, the Christmas will be fairly traditional.
MICHAEL: What do you think about Christmas and how it has become- commercial and non-spiritual?
DOREEN: I used to resent Christmas for its commercialism, but I now believe that resentment is futile and unhealthy. We each have a choice to make Christmas whatever we like. If we don't enjoy the Christmas marketing, we have the choice to turn off the television and radio and avoid the shopping malls. Christmas marks the traditional time of year (that in ancient Celtic times we called, "Yule") where we all retreat with our loved ones and hibernate. I see Christmas as a time to rest and refuel.
MICHAEL: How do you start your day?
DOREEN: My husband reads a passage from a spiritual book aloud, so that we're reading the book together. Right now we're reading, "Ask and It Is Given" by Abraham-Hicks. Then, we hold hands and pray out loud together, one at a time. We use affirmative prayers, meaning that we thank God ahead of time for whatever we're asking for. We've had so many of our prayers answered, that our faith is very strong. I exercise daily (cardio and light weights).
MICHAEL: What are the benefits of meditation and any tips on how to discipline myself to do it?
DOREEN: For those who have chaotic home or work lives, meditation is absolutely essential. You can go into the W.C. at work, close the door, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. That will re-centre you, so that your thoughts and actions are calm and love-based. Any time you find yourself stressed, call upon the Archangel Jophiel (the Archangel of Beauty) and say, "Jophiel, please help me to have beautiful thoughts!" and it is done.
You don't need to struggle to meditate; in fact, that would be counter-productive. “A Course in Miracles” emphasizes that it's not so much the quantity of time you spend meditating, but the quality of the meditation. In other words, one minute of deep stillness is more helpful than a half-hour of restless "trying" to meditate.
MICHAEL: Why does New Thought movement attract mostly women? How can you get more men involved? You can't heal the planet without 50% of the population!
DOREEN: My theory is that men who are the bread-winners are afraid of facing the fact that they're dissatisfied with their careers. If they truly opened their hearts and psychic abilities, they'd start taking an inventory of their life. This would make them want to quit their jobs, something they're unprepared to do much of the time. Women can help this situation by being supportive if their husband wants to make a career transition.
MICHAEL: What do you do if your spouse/partner/friends do not believe in spirituality and have a very negative worldview and they are "pulling you off track"?
DOREEN: I wrote about this topic in my book, "Healing with the Fairies." It's not easy being in a spiritually unbalanced relationship. I personally feel that it's best to surround yourself with like-minded people. Everyone that I spend time with is spiritually-minded. All of my friends walk their talk, meaning that they meditate and pray, are following their Divine guidance, are sober, kind, and doing charitable work in the world.
If you don't have like-minded people in your life, then pray and affirm that you do! This will attract them into your life. Spend time in spiritually based surroundings to meet new friends, such as at New Thought churches, spiritual workshops, yoga studios, and metaphysical book stores.
The non-spiritually minded people will either fall away out of your life, or will be inspired to lift themselves up and become more filled with light and love.
The key with relationships (and any manifestation for that matter) is to focus upon what you desire, instead of what you seem to lack.
MICHAEL: What is your opinion on the state of the world today?
DOREEN: Like most people, I'd prefer to have different leaders in office and to end the wars. However, I feel that we're moving in the right direction globally, and that as more of us become conscious and aware, we'll have more people making their opinions known. I'm glad to see the public apathy has ended.
The new Indigo Children (those born between 1975 and 1995) are here on earth to usher out corruption and usher in cooperation. Many Indigos are mislabeled as having ADHD. We need to ensure that these children aren't drugged on Ritalin, just because they have a warrior and activist spirit that doesn't conform. The Indigos have come to earth to rescue us, and we can't afford to put them into chemical straight-jackets.
MICHAEL: I first saw you when you talked at St James Church in Central London- You seem very confident and charismatic. Were you always like that or have you become this way through your faith?
DOREEN: You're very kind! The truth is that when I'm speaking, I'm not even thinking about myself or how I come across to others. I'm totally focusing upon giving of service, AND I'm extremely passionate about my topic.
MICHAEL: How have you found the UK? Do UK audiences differ from the US?
DOREEN: Whenever my airplane lands at Heathrow or Gatwick, I have the feeling of coming home. I remember living many lifetimes in England, and I feel extra-happy whenever I'm in your country. To me, England is such a magical land! I've heard other speakers complain about UK audiences, but I've always found UK people to be very warm, open-hearted, genuine, and loving. Perhaps because I love England and her people so much, that love is mutual. I'm manifesting a second home in Glastonbury.
MICHAEL: Have you got a final (Christmas) message for our readers?
DOREEN: The angels say, "This is a season of transitions. Allow yourself some quiet time to reflect on the year that has just passed. Feel the triumph of the high points of your year, and come to an understanding of the lessons and blessings hidden within the seeming low points. Then, write yourself a note that says, "I am the triumph of spirit incarnate. I am a bright and shining Christmas light that attunes others to the love and blessings of the season." Read this note often to remind yourself that the best gift of all, is giving to others. Share your inner light with others as a gift to them, a gift to yourself, and as a gift to the world."
MICHAEL: Thank you for sharing with me Doreen
DOREEN: Thank YOU!!
